Matthew B. Cano
Matt Cano opened the firm’s Austin office in 2017. He has over 35 years of experience in litigating cases throughout Texas. His practice emphasizes construction litigation, arbitration, and mediation. In addition to representing clients in those forums, he is a certified mediator and an American Arbitration Association arbitrator. Prior to starting up the Austin office, he practiced in Austin with a construction law boutique. Matt represents design professionals, including architects, engineers, surveyors, and landscape architects; owners; contractors; and governmental entities in construction litigation matters involving contract, tort, and professional liability insurance defense and also provides counsel to clients relating to contracts and non-litigated project related issues. Matt is a member of the Construction Law Section of the State Bar of Texas and Austin Bar Association. He is AV® Preeminent™ Peer Review Rated in Martindale-Hubbell®.
After earning his B.A. in criminal justice from St. Edwards University and a J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law in 1985. Matt was an Assistant City Attorney in Corpus Christi, Texas, for three years and practiced insurance defense law there for more than twelve years. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas (Construction Law Section and Litigation Section) and Austin Bar Association (Construction Law Section), and has been awarded the AV preeminent rating from Martindale Hubbell.
