Cathrin J. Martinez
Cathrin was born in Trier, Germany, speaks fluent German and moved to San Antonio in the late 1980′s. She spent seven years at St. Mary’s University to obtain both her undergraduate degree (BA, Political Science, 1995) and her law school degree (JD, cum laude, 1998). Cathrin was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1998 and is also admitted to practice in the Western US District Court of Texas. Since 1998, Cathrin has developed a practice in civil defense litigation, including personal injury, construction defect and consumer and business cases. With over 25 years of litigation experience, she is now also a mediator and arbitrator and serves as a panelist for the American Arbitration Association.
Cathrin is currently a member of the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Texas, and the San Antonio Bar Association. She is a former officer and director of the Defense Counsel of San Antonio (President, 2003; Treasurer, 2001-2002; and Director, 1999-2005).
Cathrin has dedicated pro bono services to indigent divorce clients through the Community Justice Program since 2003. She also served as an officer and director of Child Advocates San Antonio, a non-profit organization advocating for abused and neglected children in the Child Protective Services system to ensure that they are placed in permanent, safe and loving homes (Secretary, 2008-2011; Fundraising Chair, 2007-2009; Director, 2004-2011). She has been rated by peer reviews as a Super Lawyers-Rising Star (2006, 2008, 2009, 2012) and as one of San Antonio’s Best Lawyers, as published in Scene in SA Monthly and Scene in SA (2006, 2011, 2020, 2021, 2022). She also holds a DRI Exceptional Performance Citation (2003-2004).
